About Tampere Ghost Walks

Starting in May 2024, Tampere Ghost Walks offer local history buffs and ghost enthusiasts alike the opportunity to get to know ghost stories from Tampere on guided ghost tours. Tampere Ghost Walks take place in Tampere city centre, on the west side of Tammerkoski rapids.

Ghost stories from Tampere are an excellent way to get to know the local history of Tampere better. Each local ghost story is always strongly connected to its own time, place, and the original narrator of the story.

Private tours can be tailored according to the size, schedule, and interests of each group.

If you are interested in local urban legends, local history or local ghost stories, feel free to contact us via email or social media (links leading to email, Facebook, and Instagram can be found at the end of this page).

The length of our ghost walks varies from 2.2 kilometres to 3 kilometres. The longer tours, i.e. the 140-minute tours, include an ascent to Näsinkallio and a descent from Näsinkallio (not wheelchair accessible).

The age limit of our ghost tours is 13 years, but 10–12-year-olds can participate in the tours at the discretion of their parents. Dogs are welcome on the tours, but dog-owners should be mindful of other people participating on the tour.

During the tour, the guide will show a few photos showing the aftermath following the battle of Tampere in the spring of 1918. Some details in the photos can be disturbing. Likewise some of the stories may upset the more sensitive individuals and we encourage our participants to take a break and skip a specific story if they feel the need to.

Please note that weather appropriate clothes are essential. Tours will not be cancelled and money refunded unless the guide is feeling unwell or the weather forecast shows storm.

Some feedback from previous Ghost Walks

Hi there!

My name is Stefan Smirnov. I am a native resident of Tampere already in the fourth generation and I am also a teacher at a local upper secondary school. For years now, I have been interested in local history and collected various ghost stories and urban legends from my home town of Tampere.

I am an experienced storyteller and I am sure to keep anyone interested in local ghost stories entertained during my tours. Ghost stories are especially interesting to me as a socio-historical phenomenon.

I have no personal experiences with the supernatural. I try to deal logically and rationally with all topics related to the supernatural, without excluding other people’s possible experiences, which I always approach with an open mind and with respect.
